Yin Yoga is known as the quiet yoga. A slow meditative style of yoga. Yin offers a remedy to the stress and hustle of your busy yang life. By concentrating on restorative poses that target your deeper fascia and connective tissues, you’ll experience increased flexibility and improved joint health. Yin also focuses on deep breathing and longer hold times. This allows you the time and space to clear your mind and enhance your mental acuity. These meditative poses will help you attain a renewed sense of mindfulness and physical well-being. This makes them the perfect complement to an active yang lifestyle, helping bring you back into balance.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin can give us the space to slow down, heal ourselves and move negative emotions out. A chance to stay with our experiences rather than always rushing, preventing injury and finding a deeper sense of natural being. In a Yin yoga practice all the postures are sitting and all the postures are held for sustained periods of time (often three or five minutes) and props are used for support. Within these long holds there is an encouragement of softness and an emphasis on relaxing muscular tissue with a focus of internal awareness. This intense non-movement allows us to experience the poses in a deeper way. This enables the muscles to relax, the nerves to calm, and the surrounding connective tissue to remain healthy and supple. Through these attitudes there can be a gaining of harmony and peace, leading to a greater ease, a deeper sense of balance as well as feelings of calmness and acceptance.
All forms of yoga can provide benefits physically, emotionally and mentally. However, Yin works the deeper levels of the body, heart and mind. Also centres on stretching the deeper connective tissues of the ligaments, tendons, fascia, joints and bones, and the energetic channels of the meridians, nerves and blood system – improving organ health, the immune system and emotional well-being. In Yin Yoga, instead of contracting your muscles to build strength or elevating your heart rate to build stamina, you’re encouraged to relax and surrender to gravity. A perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga.
One big difference noticed by Yin students is the long-held, passive nature of the postures. This gives time for a deeper journey to unfold. A journey into the meditative aspects of yoga, a bridge to living life mindfully.

Underfloor heating and a comfortable room temperature will help to warm your surroundings. This supports the removal of toxins, improves flexibility, eases muscle and joint stiffness and increases circulation. This heat differs from radiant heat in that the heat warms the body (not the air) providing a breathable, efficient and therapeutic workout.
Yin soothes and clams us. It gives inner peace as well as freedom within the body and mind. These are such important aspects for a healthy life and a nice balance both emotionally and mentally. No experience necessary, everybody can participate. You just have to be willing to do something good for yourself.
Yoga is for Everyone!
The class is suitable for all levels and abilities. Peaceful Pixie Yoga strongly believes that yoga is for everybody. You don’t need to be flexible either as it’s a side effect of a consistent practice, not a requirement to start or a goal itself. It’s all about encouraging self acceptance and deepening awareness of the mind, breath and body for this particular class. No experience necessary. Everybody can participate, you just have to be willing to do something good for yourself.
What do I need to Bring?
Please wear comfortable, stretch clothing. All yoga equipment is provided.
What time do I Arrive?
The studio opens 15 mins before a class starts. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your class start time. Please let the Yoga Teacher know before the class if you have any medical conditions or injuries.
